In our penultimate week in P1 we had an eventful 5 days! On Monday we had our last gymnastics session so to celebrate we brought out the trampoline! The children all listened well to the safety information and did some super jumping and somersaults!
We learned about halves and had a go at making symmetrical pizza toppings. 🍕🍕🥸We tried to draw the other half of a picture – quite tricky but the children did a great job of concentrating! We also talked about halves of a number or amount. Some of us went on to work on quarters.
In literacy we learned about double digraphs aka ‘friendly letters’ or ‘double trouble’. We learned how to use and write zz, ll, and ff! We played some games to help us recognise and read them.
On Wednesday, we found out our P2 teachers! The children were very excited about visiting Miss Murray and about meeting new friends in P1/2 with me! Before we did this we had been talking about what we were looking forward to about P2 and what might be worrying us. We know that talking about our worries can really help us. We talked about all of our worries, one which left a wee tear in my eye 😢 I certainly will miss this wonderful P1 class. ❤️
On Thursday, we took part in the MFR Cash for Kids Sports challenge! Thanks for your donations! ☺️ Each child set themselves a challenge of how many laps they wanted to run 🏃♀️ and I was so impressed to see them stick to it! When we counted up the final laps I was delighted with our result – we had 20 of the class take part and altogether we ran 111 laps! Wow 🤩 well done P1! We got biscuits and juice as a treat afterwards.
We have also been practicing our talents for the Talent Show 🎤 The children put on a show of singers, gymnastic dancers, ninja skills and boxing 🥊 skills. We had a panel of P1 judges to help decide who will go through to the final. The scores began sensibly at 10 out of 10 and then reached the hilarious heights of 100 million trillion and 4 out of 20?!?! 😆 It really was so hard to choose and I wish I could have them all in the final. In the end we put acts together so we have a singing medley group and a gymnastic dance group. The show is for all the school pupils to see on Wednesday morning. I will contact you if your child has got through and if they need to bring anything.
On Friday afternoon the children went to watch the first half of the Staff v P7 football game. ⚽️ Sadly for the P7s – we were rooting for our P7 buddies- the final score was 10-1 to the Staff Team. Well done to everyone who played.
We played lots outside this week and had lots of fun. I can’t believe it’s the last week next week!
Have a great weekend everyone!
