Our phonic sounds this week were y,x and v! We created yellow yogurts and practised some yoga 🧘♀️ , had vampires 🧛🏻♀️driving vans 🚚and eating vegetables 🥕 and created X marks the spot treasure maps 🗺 ( we especially liked using the tea bags to stain our paper!). Using all their v words, the children created an incredible story about Victor the Vet who went to visit a volcano! 🌋We drew the story map and some attempt writing some of the words! The P2s this week have focused on new tricky words and predictions. Looking at clues from books to predict what the book will be about!
For Burns night we learned the story of Wee Willie Winkie! 🏴We learnt all the Scottish words used and then each drew the story map! The P2s not only wrote the Scottish words but their English translation beside them! 🏴
In maths, P1s have focused on days of the week, singing songs and completing a tricky cut and stick where not only did we identify the order of the days but used our phonic knowledge to choose the correct days ie m for Monday! The P2s have been counting and grouping in 2s leading up to us completing 2 times table sums!
We had great fun with our P6/7 buddies who played maths and phonics games with us. We also enjoyed P.E practising our jumps over the hurdles!
