Week Beginning 13.2.23

Happy Friday P2/3,

Congratulations to Hamish and Chayah for achieving ‘Writers of the Week’ in class. This week’s ‘Mathematician of the Week’ is Ania. Well done to Zain for achieving this week’s ‘Star of the Week’ award in assembly.

This week in Literacy/IDL (Our Healthy Bodies and Minds) we’ve been continuing to learn about bones. In Phonics the P2’s revisited ‘ai – snail’ and learned the ‘ay – crayon’ sound. The P3’s learned how to add ed to words and replace the y with an i ‘cry-cried’. In Grammar we’ve been learning about compound words. In writing we retold the Funny Bone story- The Pet Shop. We enjoyed having Mrs Snedden come to visit us during writing. She was delighted with everyone’s writing!

In Mental Maths we’ve been counting in 2’s, 5’s and 10’s. In Numeracy the whole class have been learning about place value and partitioning numbers into ones, tens, hundreds and thousands. We’ve been using the chrome books and diennes equipment to practically partition. In outdoor learning we took part in a place value scavenger hunt.

This week’s makaton signs have been- cat, love, holiday, sky and sweet. Can you teach the new makaton signs to your families?

Wishing you all a lovely long weekend with your families. See you all on Thursday. Mrs Meade 😊
