We learned the phonic digraphs “ou” and “oi” we practised blending and segmenting with our single sounds and double sounds. We are getting good at this!
The Fairies 🧚🏻 and Unicorns 🦄 groups got new books to read which they really enjoyed! The Rainbow 🌈 group worked on a scene from the new Super Mario movie. From reading/watching the texts we learned to talk and write literary descriptions using Describing Bubbles. The children described the characters according to the categories: shape, size, colour, texture, number and what they do. The children’s drawings and descriptions and sentences were wonderfully impressive!
In numeracy, we learned about doubles! We used pictures and counting materials to help us see and make doubles then we learned how to add them together. The Sunflowers 🌻 learned to record doubles as an adding sum. We painted doubles pictures and made up doubles number stories. We began to see doubles in the world around us!
In maths we learned about money. We learned about the coins 🪙 and notes that we use.
We made artwork of our favourite small and large animals and talked about what we know about them. We learned about life cycles and helped each other to think about the different stages of human life – from babies 👶 to adults 👩 – then the children shared what they know about the butterfly 🥚🐛🦋 life cycle. The children were very knowledgeable ,as they have studied this in nursery, so we will be building on their prior knowledge! We’ve already learned some new interesting things!
In health and well-being, We took part in a Marathon challenge running one lap as a class and then setting personal challenges for ourselves. 🏃♀️🏆 We relaxed, stretched and moved with butterfly yoga! 🧘♀️🦋👐
It was lovely to welcome the children back and we enjoyed the sunshine. ☀️
