We had a super duper time in P1 this week. As part of our Big Question: How do we look after our planet? We planted sunflower seeds and learned more about the lifecycle of plants, the different parts of flowers and their functions.
In our reading groups we reminded ourselves about word boundaries to help us read sentences more confidently. We learned about exclamation ❕ and question 🙋♀️ marks and about using expression in our reading.
In writing, we all created class descriptions of the Super Mario characters Princess Peach and Bowser. We used our Describing Bubble categories to help. The descriptive words and phrases the children came up with were phenomenal! We then chose one character to write a description for in our jotters. I was so impressed by their ideas.
In maths, we learned to count money and make and write amounts. 💷
We had lots of fun in the gym playing our warm up games! Then we focused on our ball control skills with hockey 🏑 sticks! It was great to watch the children weave in and out of the cones and take a shot of scoring a goal. Some of us had a chance to use the gymnastic apparatus. I was in awe of the children’s confidence and developing skill on the ropes and climbing frame! 🤩
On Friday, Primary 1 went to their first whole school assembly! What a big step for them to take. I was so proud of them as they listened to the P2s and P3s share their learning. Well done P1! 👏
Our week was nicely wrapped up with a visit from a beautiful and excitable lamb called Sarah. We all got the chance to pet them if we wanted to. We all agreed that she was very cute! Some of us would really have liked to take her home to have as a pet – including me! 🐑
Our Term 4 Newsletter went out on Friday with mention of our Open Afternoons which are on Tuesday 16th May and Wednesday 17th May. Your invitations will be sent home on Tuesday with your allocated afternoon. ✉️
