This week for our topic ‘Marvellous me’ we have been discussing our families. Through stories we’ve also spoken about how every family is different. The children loved sharing their family photographs.
Literacy
We have continued our sound journey this week by introducing the P1s to the n sound. Everyone loved making nnnnnnnnnn…noise with musical instruments in the small playground. For writing the children drew and described their families in their new writing jotters. The children are excited to share their learning with you all during parents evenings.
Numeracy
This week for numeracy we have focused on the numbers 10 and 11. We’ve been ordering numbers, recognising numerals and counting one by one. When focusing on the number 10, the children practically found as many ways as possible to make number bonds e.g. 6 and 4.
Other Areas of Learning
In Art the children are continuing to create their spectacular self portraits. This week we began painting facial features. On Thursday afternoon we continued to enjoy our class library visits and sharing Steggy’s Diary and the Show and Tell box.
Additional Information
Everyone did really well at leaving the school building safely on Thursday when we took part in a fire drill practise.
Next week we’ll be making Class Charter Potions. Please bring in a junk model plastic bottle on Monday. Any donations of extra bottles would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.
