This week was a short week but we managed to pack in plenty! Our focus in literacy was creating detailed drawings and using description. We had lots of fun creating a class monster. The children chose the features and Miss Carson drew what they told her. In the end we had a very interesting looking monster!
Then it was the children’s turn to use their imaginations to invent their own. They did a fantastic job of focusing on different features and they put in an incredible amount of detail! We then went to work on using the description bubble to describe their features. I’m very impressed with the children’s Marvellous Monsters.
Some of the class learned about the sound n. We learned the story about a noisy aeroplane ✈️ practised writing it, sang the song and thought of words beginning with n like narwhal, necklace, nails, etc
We flew around the school making the nnnnnnnnnnnn sound. Some teachers joined us! Some of us used our knowledge of sounds to write words and sentences. The P2s focus has been to revise sounds with one group focusing on digraphs (double sounds).
In numeracy we’ve been using our GIANT numicon to help us recognise quantities and learn about number composition.
Thank you for sending in the family photos for P1 and the photos of the things the P2s like/ are good at. What lovely photos! It was so nice to see how some of our parents looked when they were little! 🤩 If you have not managed to send in your photo yet, I’d be grateful if we could have them before Wednesday. Our photos are going to help us with our writing next week! 📝
We will be taking our P1 photo for the paper on Tuesday. The P1s from the straight P1 class and those from P1/2 will be in the same photo together. Please remember to wear your school uniform for the photo on Tuesday. Thanks.
Rights Respecting Ambassadors
We are very proud of Layla and Mya for being chosen to be the P1/2 reps of the Rights Respecting Schools Group. We held a democratic vote and they were chosen by a clear majority. Congratulations to you both! 🥳
We clapped and cheered for all the nominees and it was lovely to see them clap for the chosen reps.
