Literacy
This week in Phonics we learned the h and r sound. In writing we described the characters from the story Room on a Broom. In groups we’ve been hearing and saying initial sounds and sharing wordless Biff, Chip and Kipper books.
Numeracy
We have been focusing on subitising all week. We have been using pictures, ten frames, dice spots and ladybird spots to match with numbers. In mental maths we’ve been practising our backwards counting and show me the number on your fingers technique.
IDL
On Thursday we introduced our next spectacular story- The Tiger Who Came to Tea. Everyone enjoyed listening to Mrs Wood (Principle Teacher) read the story to the P1, P1/2 and P2 classes together.
Other Areas of Learning
In Art we made tiger masks. In P.E and gymnastics we’ve been focusing on movement on mats through jumping and rolling. On Monday everyone enjoyed taking part in Halloween crafts with their P7 buddies.
Additional Information
The weather has been rather wet this week. Please make sure to bring in wellies and indoor shoes especially on P.E days. The children need to wear appropriate footwear on P.E days. Thank you.
We hope you all have a lovely weekend. Mrs Meade and Mrs Howitt
