Week Beginning 13.11.23

Happy Friday P1,

This week we enjoyed a visit from the SSPCA and learned about animal safety, how to look after our pets and protecting wild animals in Scotland ๐Ÿด๐Ÿถ๐Ÿฟ๏ธ๐Ÿฆ†๐Ÿฆ”๐Ÿน

In Literacy we introduced the traditional story- The Three Little Pigs. In small groups we made little pig homes out of construction materials during play based learning. Thankfully the wolf wasn’t able to huff and puff and blow the houses down. In Phonics we revisited previously taught sounds- s, a, t, p, i, n, c, k, ck, e, h, r, m and d. In writing we retold the events from the story- We’re Going on a Bear Hunt. Today in Phonics we went on a sound hunt around school.

In Numeracy we focused on subtraction. In mental maths we’ve been sequencing numbers backwards, identifying numbers and finding one less than. Today we played number identification snakes and ladders board games.

In RME we learned about the celebration of Diwali and made a candle light in Art.

Thank you to Tiree’s mum for reading a wonderful story to us all inside a TeePii to celebrate Book Week ๐Ÿ“š

Have a lovely weekend. Mrs Meade and Mrs Howitt ๐Ÿ˜Š
