Our highlights from this week:
◦ Our literacy focus and Story of the Week was ‘Not a Stick.’ This is a fun book that helped us to flex our imagination’s muscles 💪 and describing vocabulary! We imagined our chosen stick to be many things like boats, wands, dragons, swords, spears, cats, superhero props and chickens! ⛴️ 🧚🏻♀️ 🪄🐉 ⚔️ 🐱 🔨⚡️🐓
◦ In reading, some of our groups focused on word boundaries and word recognition and some of us looked at blending and using picture clues. 🕵️
◦ In maths, we continued to revise 2D shape and were introduced to new 3D shapes. We know these shapes as we see them in the world often. We enjoyed learning their names and have been learning new vocabulary to help us talk about them. ⚽️🏀🥫🧊🍦🧱🎲🥁⛺️⛰️🔋🧻📦
◦ The P7s planned some fun St Andrews activities for us we especially enjoyed the ceilidh dancing and the scavenger hunt. We had to find Scottish animals and took the first letter from each one to make a word! The children were very excited and loved following the clues that led us to the word, ‘Scotland’. 🏴
◦ The P1s practiced their nativity show. It was great to see where everyone would be sitting and see them perform the songs together. The nursery will soon join them for practice.
◦ After reading our new story for next week, “Hansel and Gretel” the P2s got together to design their own gingerbread houses. 🍬🍭🧁🍩
◦ Thank you to those who brought in their talents and interests to share. Antoni brought in a football trophy 🏆 Isla took in her gymnastics 🤸🏻♂️ medal, and Phoebe shared her amazing rainbow 🌈 🦄drawing and story! We have popped their photos up in our display.

◦ The children are full of Christmas chat and excitement. I’ve been hearing their stories about elves and advent calendars. They were very excited to begin some Christmas crafts. They are super delighted to see the glitter come out of the art cupboard! ✨
