This post was a little slower than usual to appear so that we could add the digital animations the children worked on with Eden Court (see below) but hopefully it will be worth the wait as it was a fun filled week of creativity!
We had an amazing Counting Collections session in maths! There were so many ‘lightbulb’ moments for lots of children realising things they hadn’t made sense of before or making connections to other things we’ve been learning. There was some great teamwork taking place too!
In addition to our usual weekly learning, this week we’ve had the pleasure of the open afternoons where we created stars out of sticks on the Tuesday! This required a lot of patience, perseverance and a fair bit of help from friends and families as we tried to get to grips with the clove hitch knot and the sheer lashing. The stars turned out well though (a small selection can be seen below) and it was great to hear some parents say they learnt something new too! We also had more creative fun building and decorating special boxes on the Thursday open afternoon.
We also had an introduction to the world of animation and explored both paper and digital animations. The children loved both these versions. We were very lucky to have a short workshop with Eden Court who helped us to create our own digital animations which even included sound effects or music. It was amazing to see what the children were able to create in such a short space of time and we might explore this in more depth in the future.
The P4s ventured off to Inshes Church for some more craft related activities while also learning about the story of Christmas. The week was rounded off with some fun Dodgeball games as part of the House morning.
We’re practising two winter songs at the moment. A class song, Frosty the Snowman, and a stage song which we are singing with the other P2 to P4 classes. Here are some video clips that have the music and lyrics if you’d like to practise them at home. The sound tracks we have at school are slightly different but this should help with the learning of the lyrics.
