Happy Friday 😊
This week in P1 we have introduced the sounds z and w. We introduced w on WEDNESDAY when it was extremely WINDY and WET 🤣 The kids were quick to point out all w sounding words. They made fantastic worms 🪱 😍 We are continuing to practise our blending skills and enjoy listening to the tricky words song to help us memorise these tricky little words! So far we have taught the tricky words the and I.
In maths we have been looking at telling the time on both an analogue and digital clock. The children getting really confident at making o’clock times on our mini clocks in class. We have also been looking at the days of the week and being able to sequence our day. Lots of really valuable discussions about what we like to do in the morning, afternoon, evening and at night.
For topic this week we discussed methods of transport and how they are linked to people’s jobs. The children had great discussions about how cars, motorbikes, vans etc can be used to support people at work.
From Monday to Thursday we have been welcoming some of the nursery children to join us for a story at the end of the day. The P1s were so welcoming and excited to invite lots of familiar faces into the class.
In the library on Thursday the children loved their challenge of finding the tricky word ‘the’ within books. It was lovely to see their excitement! 😀
We continue to see our P7s buddies on a Monday afternoon. This week the P7s were showing the P1s how to use a ruler to draw straight lines as part of an art activity.
Today the P1s attended the whole school assembly. Adriana is our Star of the week 🤩
Kapla( thin wooden blocks) has been a big attraction during play this week. The P1s have shown great team work to build huge towers….then great excitement/ devastation when it topples over. Its like a monster game of jenga🙊
