It was so lovely to welcome back P1 on Monday and hear all about their holiday adventures. They all seemed so pleased to see each other. 🙂I’m sure you’ll have a few tired P1s tonight as they get back into the swing of a full week of school!!
We got straight back into routine and started with literacy and numeracy on Monday. No new sounds were introduced, we just recapped some of the double sounds taught before the holidays- ee oo ai ng ie sh and ch. Each group receives a new reading book each week. During reading sessions we develop our phonics skills and ask lots of questions about the stories being read. This term in literacy we are going to have a big focus on letter formation!
In numeracy we spent the week on addition. We started to look at simple word problems eg. Mum went to the shop and bought 5 apples and 3 bananas. How many pieces of fruit does she have? Next week we are recapping subtraction and will continue with more word problems.
We are working hard on our drawing skills in P1. Look at the beautiful daffodils the children drew this afternoon. So proud of each and every one of you! They are 👌

We finished the afternoon with a wee game of “The Floor is Lava!” Great excitement/ wildness 🙂
Have a great weekend. 🤞Fingers crossed this sunshine continues 🙂
