Phonics in Primary 1 – Weeks 4 and 5

Here’s another video to share the sounds we’ve been working on. (Apologies for the croaky voice!)

We’ve also shared some ideas for reinforcing the sounds at home in a fun and light hearted way. These types of activities could easily be done on car journeys, walks out and about or just for fun at home.

  • A variation of I spy… “I spy with my little eye something that starts with the sound sssss”
  • A sound hunt: Can you spot the letters that we’ve been learning when you’re out and about. This might be on shop signs, road signs, in a magazine or on a game.
  • Odd one out: Share three words with a friend or family member. Two words should have the same starting sound and one should have a different starting sound. Can your friend/family member pick which one is the odd one out?
