โ€œWhoโ€™s that trip trapping over my bridge?โ€ ๐ŸงŒ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ

It was so lovely to be back in class with the brilliant P1B this week!

Here are some of our highlights!

In literacy, it was all about letter and sound V!

In maths, we were revising previously visited concepts and doing lots of counting games and activities!

In Drawing Club, we learned the story โ€˜The Three Billy Goats Gruffโ€™ and had lots of fun!

Inspired by our traditional tale, we had a super STEM afternoon building bridges! After learning about some famous and not so famous bridges we had a challenge! Can we build a bridge that could hold 3 animals or more? Or one big heavy animal ๐Ÿ˜†. The catch was that we could only use a sheet of thin cardboard to hold the animals weight! We were allowed to use items from around the class to help support the bridge. The children were very creative and delighted with their results! Just look at their faces full of joy or surprise! Some couldnโ€™t believe such a seemingly flimsy material could support the weight of their animals! Some children changed the shape or surface structure of the card to make it more โ€˜stableโ€™ or โ€˜supportingโ€™. All the children had to reconsider their first design and make improvements. The children worked so well together and I loved seeing how unique each of their bridges were!

In play, the children got busy with lots of things! They enjoyed exploring adding detail to 3D models of the Billy Goats ๐Ÿ and troll ๐ŸงŒ using plasticine. Over the week they made different things too! On Friday, lots of the children wanted to make you valentines cards or cards for their friends. โค๏ธ

We also love to celebrate out of school achievements so well done to Harper for getting a dancing medal! ๐Ÿ™Œ All children are welcome to bring in something to share any achievements. If you wanted to provide a little note to help to explain what the achievement is that would be great too.

Remember that it is a looooooong weekend. Have a lovely time whatever you are up to and Iโ€™ll see you all on Thursday!
