Welcome back P1B! 🤩

It was lovely to see the children return to class this week! They were full of excitement and stories of their time off. They seemed happy to be back and we’ve had a lovely week of learning together!

In maths, we have been learning about addition and equations! Through addition stories, the children have been learning about different types of addition and how the pictures and story relate to how we write an equation. They’ve been learning about the plus and equals symbols and the mathematical vocabulary we use. Each day we’ve worked on addition and I’ve loved listening to the children as they navigate this concept. They’ve shown confidence by coming out to explain their ideas and resilience when they have noticed their misconceptions. We really do believe that making mistakes helps us learn more! They’ve had lots of teaching input followed by opportunities to solve addition problems independently.

In literacy, we have been learning about the digraphs sh and ch. We will continue work on this next week!

We have started a new and exciting STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) project with amazing new resources that we received funding for. You will hear more about this soon!

In play, Miss Carson had a spring clean and made some small changes to the classroom that has helped to reinvigorate child led play.

All in all, it’s been a fantastic start to our last term in P1B!

Have a lovely weekend everyone!

Miss Carson 😎
