Small Playground Project

It was wonderful to see the children in full flow this afternoon in our wonderful new space outside.

We’ve added a few photos from the hard work and efforts of those that came to volunteer on the weekend – thank you again for what you helped us achieve.

Here are the children having a brilliant time this afternoon.

The shelter – this is now complete and was very well utilised this afternoon with many imaginative things happening. At one point, there was a ‘fire pit’ in the middle, a ‘cinema’ complete with ‘projector’ and many delighted children doing a countdown in unison from 5 to 1 as the ‘film’ was about to start!

The stage – the main structure is complete but we still have some decking to add to the sides and we need to paint it all. We will then hope to add a backdrop painted with blackboard paint so that the children can draw their own backdrops. Uses this afternoon were varied but a highlight was the rendition of ‘This Girl is on Fire’ by Alicia Keys being belted out for all to hear with full use of the stage area being made!

The mud kitchen – the main structure is complete but we still need to add a basin and some other accessories to embellish it. Some pots and pans should be arriving this week so we can start some outdoor cooking.

The tyres and planks – these were thoroughly cleaned over the weekend and the planks were meticulously checked to ensure all nails were removed and they were safe for use. They were very well used today! Their uses were endless and too many to mention so you can enjoy the photos instead.

There was of course, some tree climbing/dangling too!

There’s more planned for the small ground between now and the end of term and also into next year so watch this space for further developments!
