Happy Friday P2,
What a super busy learning week. We were lucky to have Olivia, a high school work experience student, volunteering in class with us this week.
Let’s recap over the last two weeks-
In Phonics we learned the ai/ay (snail/stay), au/aw (author/awful), ou/ow (ouch/how) alternative spellings and continued to practice final blends (nd/round).
In Writing we have been writing imaginative stories linked to life cycles. We enjoyed watching the John Lewis advert, Snapper the Venus Fly Trap and created stories based on a magical seed.
In Literacy we have learned about compound words, recapped over previously taught common words and continued our learning of simple contractions- parts of speech.
In Numeracy we continued our learning about fractions of amounts and shapes. Please return the Fraction Key Assessment Task with a family voice comment by Monday, thank you. In Mental Maths we have been solving subtraction problems.
Each morning we’ve introduced a short 3 minute meditation exercise. The class has really enjoyed this task. If you’d like to use the exercises at home, the app is called- Super Chill – http://www.superchill.org and it’s a free downloadable app.
We’ve also been watching Children’s Newsround during snack time. Again the children have found the short videos really interesting.
Many thanks to Lydia for bringing in some frog-tastic froglets into class. It’s been fantastic to see real life tadpoles at the Botanical Gardens and have froglets visit us in class. P2 have also been fortunate to have the pupils that attend The Den share their butterflies and learn more about life cycles.
And finally thank you to all the families who attended today’s Open Afternoon.
We wish you all a nice weekend with your families. Mrs Meade and Miss Mudie 😊
