What a great week we’ve had!
The highlight was definitely the P1 trip and we were very lucky with the weather. The children had so much fun visiting Wester Hardmuir Fruit Farm, picking strawberries and they asked some super questions to find out more about the fruit growing process. Inshes was selected to receive a kind donation from Simpson’s Garden Centre recently and the money is to go towards our small playground project and will support the purchasing of some fruit trees. We will do this next academic year but the trip to the fruit farm ties in nicely with our future plans for growing our own fruit.

After picking our tasty fruit we got to play in the play area, eat tasty ice-creams made from the berries grown at the farm.

We then ventured off to the Nairn Beach area where the children had an absolute blast in the Splashpad. The shrieks of delight were brilliant as they got soaked themselves and fired the unexpectedly long range water pistols in the direction of any adult they could see! Mrs Adamiec possibly had the most fun joining the kids for a splash about!

Mrs Howitt kindly joined us on her day off and the children were delighted when they saw her there to greet us at the farm. Thanks to all the parents who were able to join us as well. Trips like this aren’t possible without the support of all the helpers. We hope you enjoyed the day as much as we did.
The rest of the week has been busy with our usual learning both indoors and out. In literacy we’ve been learning about the /ng/ sound. In maths we’ve been creating our own story problems that represent addition situations. We’ve also been learning about the concept of subtracting zero or subtracting to get zero. We created our own obstacle courses which involved team work, problem solving and the conditions that there had to be an element of over, under and through within the course. Here are a few pictures from the week.

A letter went home this week (and was also emailed to all families) as a reminder of the Celebration Event happening on the afternoon of Monday 23rd so you can enjoy P1s final session of the First Lego League project we’ve been involved in. We look forward to welcoming those who can make it on Monday.
