Small playground dead hedge – Storm Amy

In the coming months we are hoping to construct a dead hedge within the small playground which will enclose a mini orchard. We were fortunate to be given a grant from Simpson’s Garden Centre to support the purchase of some fruit trees.

With the recent storm that we’ve had, there is perhaps more tree branches down than usual so we were hoping to maximise this opportunity to support with our dead hedge construction.

If you have any branches that you are looking to get rid of that are approximately a maximum of a finger length in diameter and 1.5 + metres long we would be interested in collecting this to construct the dead hedge. If you have anything like this and can get it to the school, it could be left next to the fence of the small playground. Any branch donations could be dropped off between now and the end of day on Friday so they can be stored safely before the holidays begin.

If anybody happens to have any long lengths of Hazel, this would be particularly useful for the dead hedge construction.

Any branches will be greatly appreciated and we hope nobody was badly affected by the storm.
