Happy Friday P2/3,
Congratulations to Emily and Thomas for achieving ‘Writers of the Week’. This week’s ‘Mathematician of the Week’ is Hamish. Well done to Amelia for achieving this week’s ‘Star of the Week’ award in assembly.
This week in Literacy/IDL we’ve been learning about Scottish food and local produce. In Phonics the P2’s learned the alternative ee sound- ea/scream and the P3’s have been revisiting the split digraphs- a-e/skate and o-e/home. In Grammar we have been learning about Poetry. In Writing we watched a short animated film about a caterpillar and his friends. We then described each creature in the film.
In Mental Maths we’ve continued to solve multiplication problems. In Numeracy we’ve been learning how to solve fractions in quantities; the P2’s have been learning 1/2 of all even numbers up to 20 and the P3’s have been learning 1/2 and 1/4 of numbers up to and beyond 20.
This week, Inshes has celebrated Science Week- Theme- Connections. In Science we all made connections by using a ball of string. We quickly learned that we’re all connected! We also learned about sound waves and made string telephone cups. In Art we decorated our farm paintings from last week.
