Maths Fun

We have worked very hard this week on our maths – particularly our written maths!

One group learned how to subtract using chimney sums. They enjoyed it so much that soon they had a 13 digit number – a 13 digit number up on the board and they worked through it.

Others worked on rounding to nearest 10 and to nearest 1000. Again some wanted to explore further and developed their skills to tackle rounding within 99, 999.

These are powerful skills which the children have developed by building on the base provided in formal lessons.

We now need to focus on our times tables and one of the best ways is to have a go in a games format. We use Times Tables Rock Stars (TTRS) for our practise sessions.

Please use this link to view a short description of how TTRS works.
