I think this week can mostly be described as windy! I was looking through the photographs from different days and the windswept look definitely seems to be the theme!
In maths we revisited our work on pattern spotting but connected it to our work on subtraction. This will set us up nicely for the skills we’ll be developing in the coming weeks. Mrs Snedden, and a visitor called Mr Quigley, visited our class to see our learning in action. They were impressed with our discussion skills and how well we use, build on, connect to and respectfully challenge each other’s ideas. We’d done a similar pattern task (but for addition) in Term 1 to the one we did in class this week for subtraction. The progress in pattern spotting and describing the patterns was huge. Well done everyone.
As part of outdoor learning some of us started to create bug hotels and others were going in search of mini-beasts. We are continuing to develop skills connected to problem solving, perseverance and teamwork as we try to construct a functional shelter. The wild wind made this even more challenging!
The children are leading ‘reflection time’ now. The daily monitors lead the class discussion where people share their views and feelings about what is going well and any problems we are having. This has developed so much from the beginning of term and the discussion this week was the best yet. Everyone was thoughtful and respectful, people were extending the range of their contributions and the daily monitors shared the task of leading very skilfully! Well done P3/4 LM.
