This week is Book Week Scotland and we were lucky enough to have a visit from a local author. Corrina Campbell who has a number of published children’s books visited our school on Monday to share how she became an author and illustrator. She gave us a great illustration workshop which the children loved, it was a great experience! On Tuesday we also signed up to authors live where Axel Scheffler the illustrator of the Gruffalo and many, many more books also explained how he gets his ideas for illustrations and talked us through how to draw the penguin from the book Jonty Gentoo, have a wee look at our illustrations below.
The children also had the opportunity to become authors and illustrators using Book Creator to help digitally present their stories, which were shared with our class.
It was lovely to welcome so many families into class this week during our open afternoons where the children eagerly shared all their learning about Ancient Egypt.
