Festive Fun!

Monday’s Ticket Design

The children have been very busy over the last few weeks and the Christmas excitement is building!

We have enjoyed learning our songs for our Christmas performance and we hope you enjoyed it too! The children were asked to volunteer their art skills to make a ticket design or posters. Of the children that wanted to do it, Marcie’s design was chosen for the ticket design for Mondays performance! The other children’s designs were made into posters and put up around the foyer. You may have spotted them before heading into the performance! Well done to our super duper artists! 🌟👏On Wednesday we were invited to see the P5-P7 Christmas performance which we loved! The children excitedly sat on the bleacher seats and were a wonderful audience for the show! On Thursday, we got to see the P2-P4s perform which was another fantastic performance! We also had a scrumptious Christmas lunch on Thursday!

I have lots of photos to share of our learning over the past couple of weeks.

The children will be bringing home some Christmas crafts to you this week and we will aim to send home all their belongings including their gym kits. 🎄

On Thursday this week it is our joint P1 Christmas party. 🥳 The children can come dressed in their party clothes as our party begins at 9:30am. We know that they may want to wear party shoes and if so, we recommend that children bring their weather appropriate outdoor shoes with them to change into so they can play outside at both breaks.

Our P1 Key Assessment Task will come home to you following the holidays in the first week back in January.

We are looking forward to a fun and festive week of learning.

Thanks, Miss Carson 😊

In literacy, we have learned the letters and sounds Ee, Rr, UU and Bb. We have literacy groups with some children practising their blending skills and others revising and strengthening their recognition of single sounds. We have done lots of work on letter formation and segmenting. Segmenting is when we hear a whole word and we try to break it down into its sounds. When we have done this, we try to write the words.

In maths, the children have loved learning about time! We are learning about the days of the week and things we do at different times during the day. We have looked at different types of clocks and where we might find them. The children have learned about analogue and digital times with a focus on ‘o’ clock. The children have been enthusiastic when they spot an ‘o’ clock time during the day! We have also been looking at numbers before and after a given number and using our number knowledge to work out missing numbers on a number line.

We’ve also spent some time with our P7 buddies playing number and Christmas games on the Chromebooks. In play, it’s been great to see the children develop their interests in building, role play and it’s super to see them continue to work on literacy and numeracy and their other experiences through play. We’ve had children role playing administrating the flu vaccine, cooking Christmas lunch and a gym with the children helping each other to make the gymnastic shapes and “build our muscles!”
