Week beginning 3.2.25

Wow! Another fun and action packed week under our belts.

As it is Child’s mental health week we have focused on having lots of fun in class and recognising what things make us feel good and feel proud of ourselves. We have danced lots… ( Thanks to Danny go go) We have chosen some of the classes favourite songs to help us during tidy up time , we’ve had a phonics disco and to tie in with this week’s new sound we had a jelly, juice and jam party!! Can you guess what sound was introduced this week!😁

Drawing Club has continued. Our story of the week was Goldilocks and the Three bears. Please see below for the vocabulary introduced alongside the book this week.  On Monday the children had to draw one or more of the main characters. We discussed what the word character means.  On Wednesday we worked in pairs to describe the different characters. Our partner had to guess from our description which character we were describing. On Thursday the children had to invent a machine that would make the Perfect Porridge!

For maths we have been looking at combinations of making 10. To help us with this we have been using our fingers. Focusing on how many we have up and down to help us know different ways of making ten. We have also used tens frames and tens tracks to help embed the learning .We have continued to practise our counting in partnership. We do this once a week, changing regularly who the children are paired up with.

This week we have spent a lot of time referring to the different zones of regulation . This has tied in well with Child’s mental health week. We have listened to stories and watched little media clips and discussed the feelings of different characters. The children are becoming so much more confident at recognising how people are feeling and why they might be feeling like this. We are bringing this into our play also and beginning to be able to reflect on how our friends are feeling and how our actions might impact on their feelings.

Some of our play highlights…

Thanks for being such Superstars! Have a great weekend! 😄
