Happy Friday P2/3,
Firstly we’d like to share our ‘Mathematician of the Week’. Good job Alise. Congratulations to Jayden and Jaxson for achieving ‘Writers of the Week’ in class. Well done to Aleah and Dylan for achieving this week’s ‘Star of the Week’ award in assembly.
This week in Literacy/IDL we’ve been learning about our senses. Together everyone took part in a visualise and draw sensory story session on Thursday. In Grammar we’ve been learning about short and long vowels- a, e, i, o, u. In writing we watched a beautiful short video called ‘Present’ on ‘Literacy Shed’ linked with our IDL. We then retold the story through descriptive writing. In handwriting we practised the v, w, y and u letters. No new Phonic sounds this week due to Tuesday’s strike action.
In Mental Maths we’ve been ordering numbers. In Numeracy the P2’s have been counting in 10’s. The introduction of multiplication has continued by practically making groups of 10’s. The P3’s have been halving numbers up to 20 through mental and practical strategies. The introduction of division and dividing by 2 will continue next week. On chromebooks, everyone played differentiated ordering number games.
This week’s makaton signs have been- calm, moon, coffee and pencil. Can you teach the new makaton signs to your families?
Wishing you all a lovely weekend. Mrs Meade 😊
