It was Book Week Scotland this week and the theme was ADVENTURE!
We are very lucky to have the teepee at the moment which was transformed into a magical reading space for all the classes this week. It was so lovely to see so many volunteers from P3/4 LM offering to help clean the teepee to get it ready for everyone as it had got quite muddy over the past few weeks. What an amazing kind and helpful class we have!

We started to read a book called ‘Against the Odds’ written by an adventurer called Alistair Humphreys. It tells the tales of a whole host of adventurers who overcame great challenges to succeed in different ways. One of the people we read about is Karen Darke who you can sometimes see out and about cycling in Inverness! She’s even giving a talk at Eden Court in February (sadly only for children 12+).

We’ve continued with our own outdoor adventures by developing our problem solving and team work skills by continuing to experiment with different methods of putting up a shelter. Some of us have also been busy identifying the trees that we have in the school grounds.

In maths we’ve been continuing to learn about the different types of subtraction. So far we’ve learnt about ‘taking apart’, ‘taking away from’ and we’ve just started to learn about ‘difference’. The class are continuing to spot patterns, look for similarities and differences and are learning to debate this to convince others of their point of view while also being open to changing their own mind if they are convinced by someone else.
In literacy we’ve been learning about letter writing and card writing including the content of particular types of letters and the layout of these.
